On 27 July 2015, the 7th aipa Caucus was opened by H.E. Dr. Nguon Nhel, Second Vice-President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The meeting is held under the theme of “ASEAN Tourism: Promoting Nature Conservation and Developing Sustainable Tourism” at Sokha Resort Hotel, Cambodia’s Siem Reap province.
The two-day event is attended by nine vithya_aipa member parliaments: Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, along with representatives from vithya_aipa and ASEAN Secretariats with somewhere 60 attendees except the delegation of the Philippines, while the Cambodian parliamentary delegation is headed by H.E. Mr. Chheang Vun, Chairman of the Commission of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media of the National Assembly.
It is noted that aipa Caucus was founded during the 29th aipa Assembly held in Singapore from 19-24 August 2008. The vithya_aipa Caucus is hosted in a rotation basis by 10 aipa member bloc.
During his opening remark, H.E. Dr. Nguon Nhel, Second Vice-President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, stated that by adopting its countless resolutions in 40 years, aipa remains committed to working actively with a view to achieving more progress. Meanwhile, H.E. Dr. Post Cheam Yeap, Chairman of the Organizational Committee, aipa National Group and Chairman of the Commission on Economy, Finance, Banking and Auditing of the National Assembly, said the 7th vithya_aipa Caucus is held in the land of Angkor, which is rich in temples, natural resources, cultural treasures that are determined as great potentials for tourism.
